The History of Mountain Iron
The original Mountain Iron was established in 1983 by Dave Saunders of Claudville, VA, with partners Harold Slate and Ralph “Eddie” Williams. The shop was located on Route 8, just past Patrick County High School. The Mountain Iron graphics were designed by Danny Maines. Dave provided services and repairs to motorcycles until 1986. The original building has since been demolished. 10 years after the start of Mountain Iron, James “Moose” Foley began making memorabilia to keep Mountain Iron alive throughout the past 30 years. In June 2023, the Mountain Iron name was purchased and a LLC started by Jonathan Hubbard of Stuart VA. With dreams to one day have a motorcycle repair garage finally unfolding, the Mountain Iron name can live on as it was originally intended.
